Light Curtains Selection Guide
Selecting the Proper Light Curtain for your Application
We Can Simplify Your Light Curtain Selection Needs

Omron STI provides several safety light curtain families to solve your optical guarding needs. We offer compact models designed for machine locations where space is tight, and we offer larger robust light curtains powerful enough to guard large perimeters. We offer you a choice because when it comes to automation safeguarding, one size does not fit all. The following questions will guide you to the appropriate models.

Resource Modules

AS-interface
Safety-At-Work Module

RM Series resource modules provide the user of Omron STI solid-state safety light curtains a convenient and reliable method of enhancing and extending the capabilities of these light curtains.

The AS-i safety module makes it possible to operate sensor driven personal protection equipment across the AS-i bus. When used in combination with an Omron STI Type 4 light curtain and a usersupplied AS-i safety monitor, the SB-INT-01 AS-i module achieves the safety requirements of Category 4 per EN954-1.

SB-INT-01
(provides the ability to interface Omron STI light curtains to the AS-i bus)

RM-1
(one pair NO force-guided safety relay outputs and one pair of NC auxiliary relay outputs, 55 mm DIN)

RM-2
(same as RM-1, but allows all wiring of MS4600 to be performed through the RM-2, 100 mm DIN)

RM-2AC
(provides power and outputs, one NO and one NO/NC force-guided relay outputs, 150 mm DIN, for use with F3SJ-A, MS4600, MS4800, OS3101 and PA4600)

RM-2AC-IP
(provides power and outputs, one NO and one NO/NC force-guided relay outputs, IP65 metal chassis enclosure, for use with F3SJ-A, MS4600, MS4800, OS3101 and PA4600)
RM-3
(mute module- allows for two solid-stateoutput light curtains to be connected and provides for the wiring input of two to four muting sensors. This unit has solid-state output and is housed in a 100 mm DIN enclosure)

RM-4
(multiple light curtain Ð provides connections for up to four safety devices, and produces a single pair of solid-state safety outputs)

RM-5
(multi-function module Ð allows for up to three light curtains to be connected and provides two NO and one NC outputs. The RM-5 also provides two or four sensor muting. Also, the module performs PSDI function with selectable one, two or three break operation.)

RM-X
(one NO and one NO/NC force-guided safety relay outputs, 22.5 mm DIN)
